I was driving to work early this morning, cruising down the highway and listening to some music, when I saw the silhouette of a horse wandering across the road less than half a mile away. I've seen people riding horses along the highway, and my first thought was that this pony's rider had perhaps fallen off.
As I got closer, a second, a third, and then a whole gang of horses began to mosey across the highway. What little traffic there was (we're talking early morning in a rural area here), came to a stop as we sat patiently, waiting for the horses to continue on their way. They looked like they were up to something and were trying their best to be as nonchalant and inconspicuous as they could be. They didn't even bolt when some impatient doofus started honking, and there were a couple of colts in the bunch.
I don't know where they came from, and I don't know where they were going, but I'll bet their owner was surprised when he eventually found out that his horses had decided to venture forth and explore the eastern part of Payne County, Oklahoma.
